Counseling Costs

At Rooted Paths Counseling, we believe that therapy is more than just an appointment—it is an investment in your family's long-term resilience and emotional well-being. Choosing to seek support is a brave first step toward building a foundation that doesn’t shake, and we are committed to being clear and transparent about the costs associated with your care.

We understand that navigating insurance and session fees can sometimes feel like another layer of chaos. Our goal is to make this process as steady and straightforward as possible, allowing you to focus on what matters most: the growth and healing of your child, your teen, or yourself.

Below, you will find a breakdown of our current rates, insurance information, and what you can expect as we work together to find your family’s steady ground. At this time, we are not in network with insurance, but we will continue to update as they become available. If you have questions about your specific situation, we are happy to help!

Paying Privately Without Insurance

Paying for sessions out of pocket has some benefits.

When using insurance, your carrier has some say in diagnosis and treatment. They may also request access to records or restrict the number of sessions.

Our private pay rates are listed here:

  •  $115 for the initial appointment and $100 for follow-up visits

  • Couples/ Family Sessions: Initial appointment is $140, and the follow-up sessions are $120

Paying With Insurance

Navigating insurance can often feel overwhelming, but we are committed to helping you find steady ground through transparent financial policies. At Rooted Paths Counseling PLLC, therapy is viewed as a financial partnership between you, your insurance provider, and our practice.

In-Network Insurance Coverage

We are proud to be an in-network provider with several major insurance plans, including:

  • UnitedHealthcare (UHC)

  • Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS)

  • UMR (United Medical Resources)

  • Blue Care

Your Financial Responsibilities

1. Co-Payments, Co-Insurance, and Deductibles All co-payments, co-insurance, and unmet deductibles are due at the time of service. These specific amounts are determined solely by your insurance policy, not by our practice. We require a valid credit card to be kept on file to securely process these payments on the day of your session.

2. Verification of Benefits While our administrative team may assist you in verifying your behavioral health benefits, it is ultimately your responsibility to know your coverage details. We highly recommend calling the number on the back of your insurance card before your first session to confirm your outpatient mental health benefits, deductible status, and copay amounts.

3. Coverage Denials and Plan Changes If your insurance provider denies a claim for any reason (including policy termination, unmet deductibles, or a determination that services are not "medically necessary"), you remain financially responsible for the full standard fee of that session. Please notify us immediately if you experience any changes to your insurance policy to prevent unexpected out-of-pocket costs.

4. Services Not Covered by Insurance Please note that health insurance plans only pay for face-to-face, medically necessary clinical treatment. Insurance cannot be billed for the following practice services, and these fees must be paid entirely out-of-pocket:

  • Missed sessions or late-cancellation fees.

  • Extended phone consultations (clinical calls exceeding 10 minutes).

  • Coordination of care calls with third parties (such as teachers, school counselors, or pediatricians).

  • Legal preparation, court appearances, or responding to subpoenas.

Late Cancellation Costs

At Rooted Paths Counseling, your scheduled appointment is a time reserved exclusively for you and your family. We understand that life can be unpredictable—children get sick, and emergencies happen. However, to maintain a consistent foundation for all our clients, we require 24 hours' notice for any cancellations or rescheduling requests.

  • 24-Hour Notice: Cancellations made with at least 24 hours' notice will incur no charge.

  • Late Cancellations: Appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice will be charged a late cancellation fee of $80.

  • No-Shows: If you do not show up for your scheduled appointment and have not provided prior notice, the full session fee will be charged.
